Nikon D50 Digital SLR Camera
Nikon’s D50 digital SLR is a professional quality 6.1 megapixel camera that’s priced for the amateur photographer.
The camera has a short response time - it shoots 2 frames per second - and can use interchangeable Nikon lenses. The D50 uses SD memory cards, but it can also save low-resolution images for Web pages or e-mail attachments directly in the camera.
What I really liked are the camera’s seven Digital Vari-Program modes that make capturing special moments easier than ever. The new “Child” mode, for example, automatically adjusts ISO, shutter speeds and white balance to produce top-quality images of children. For photographers who like to keep control, the D50 also has manual override control so you can steel feel in-touch with your camera.
I had one of these on review for 6 weeks earlier this year, and must say I really loved it. The only issue I had was the physical size of it. I’ve gotten used to using smaller cameras, so this beast took a bit of getting used to, but once I got over the initial shock, I really got to love it.
The quality of the photos are first rate, and with such good resolution, you have a lot of scope for editing and resizing the images. At this level, you get image files that can be significantly enlarged while still remaining completely manageable in “physical” file size.
According to the literature, you could run a continuous shoot at 2.5 frames per second for a total of up to 137 photos, which means taking action shots is a real “walk in the park”. The photos are instantly stored on the secure digital memory card, and a USB2.0 interface means transferring files to your PC (or Mac) is quicker than ever.
The D50 comes with a 2.0 inch LCD display, which although it doesn’t sound like much of an increase over more standard 1.8 inch viewers, it all adds to the feel of quality.
So in my opinion, the Nikon D50 digital SLR is money well spent. Get more detailed information and customer reviews here:
